The mission of the Massachusetts Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (MACVPR) is to promote the practice of high standards of care in cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation in Massachusetts.

History

The Massachusetts Society for Cardiac Rehabilitation (MSCR) was formed in 1984 by a group of clinicians to provide a source of communication throughout the Commonwealth. By networking with other health care providers in the field of cardiac rehabilitation, these individuals set out to prevent the demise of cardiac rehabilitation programs in Massachusetts due to the lack of third party payers.

MSCR affiliated with the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) in 1990. Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs joined the state alliance, and the MSCR was renamed to the Massachusetts Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (MACVPR). Formal affiliation was signed in 2004.
